Management comment

Asian equity markets rebounded strongly in July on renewed confidence of the stabilization of Euro-zone sovereign debt crisis, rising expectations of policy easing in China and better-than-expected corporate earnings results across Asia. The benchmark MSCI Asia ex-Japan rose 5.79%, powered by gains in Taiwan and Korea. Amundi Funds Asian Growth (institutional class) gained 4.44% during the month and underperformed the index by 144 basis points due to our relatively defensive positioning in the portfolio and profit-takings in some of key positions like LED and memory stocks. We have been adding exposure to domestic-oriented sectors like banking, insurance and real estate, at the expense of cyclical and technology stocks, as the global economy is set to slow into the second half of 2010. We remain overweight in India, Singapore and Hong Kong markets in the third quarter of the year.
